Augustinus Vox Study

About Study

Version 2.50.11

A bilingual workspace for reading, comparing, listening to, citing, and looking up Augustine, Sacred Scripture, related source texts, and scholarly references.

Methods & credits How Study was made Sources, A.I. assistance, audio, and verification

Study is built from traceable editions, not uncited generated text. Its browser app and publishing pipeline are intentionally simple enough to inspect and reproduce.

Open web foundation

The reader is dependency-free HTML, CSS, and vanilla JavaScript hosted by WordPress. PowerShell prepares and publishes corpus files, Node.js runs syntax and regression checks, and Python drives audio and lyric alignment.

Texts and editions

The ancient works and historical editions are public domain. Some modern digital transcriptions and reference datasets have separate licenses or attribution terms, so every edition’s Info panel links to its exact human-readable source and reuse notice.

A.I. assistance

Augustinus Vox directs the project and makes its editorial and release decisions. OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Codex assisted with research, source comparison, AVSV translation drafts and revision, data preparation, software development, validation, and testing. AVSV editions are labeled A.I. assisted; for critical work, compare them with the cited source text.

Audio and timing

Read-along narration uses Qwen3-TTS 1.7B. Aiden voices Augustine and the single-narrator editions, including both paired Morals works; On the Teacher adds the approved Adeodatus voice, Soliloquies gives Reason an approved distinct voice, On the Happy Life adds approved distinct voices for Monica, Licentius, Trygetius, Navigius, and Adeodatus, and Against the Academics gives Alypius, Licentius, Trygetius, and Navigius their approved voices. Stable-ts aligned the text for the current releases, Faster-Whisper provides an independent transcription check, and FFmpeg packages the chapter audio. Stable-ts is now archived; its exact historical tool remains linked. Music was created with Suno, and synchronized lyric timing is generated locally from the published Augustinus Vox lyrics and exact MP3 files.

Recreate the approach

  1. Choose a legal source. Record its human-readable edition page, provider, and exact reuse terms.
  2. Pin the evidence. Save the source revision and a SHA-256 checksum before transforming it.
  3. Prepare the readers and references. Convert the source to plain text or deterministic JSON, preserve its structure, and label any A.I.-assisted translation or adapted dataset.
  4. Test before publishing. Check structure, links, text and audio hashes, playback timing, responsive layout, and release-version consistency.

Underlying historical works and editions are public domain. Digital transcriptions are credited under their provider terms: CC BY-SA 4.0 for Perseus, OpenGreekAndLatin, and Latin, Italian, or English Wikisource where applicable; BKV reuse terms for Soliloquies; and eBible public-domain notices for Scripture. See each edition’s Source and License links for details.

  13. Version 2.49.3

    Focused English capitalization corrections

A targeted consistency audit of all 62 English document readers identifies two isolated capitalization slips in On the Morals of the Catholic Church: “Old Testament” in 1.19.35 and “Holy Spirit” in 1.23.43. Both are corrected in the reader and synchronized display. Citation anchors, selection, copying, all recordings, word timings, and historical generation evidence are preserved. Interpretive capitalization choices and historical translation styles are left unchanged.

  14. Version 2.49.2

Citations open the works already in Study

Repairs 42 stale unavailable-work references and adds five existing-work navigation links. Verified passages open the correct English reader, including the two Morals works, On the Greatness of the Soul, On Free Choice, On Genesis Against the Manichaeans, and Ambrose's hymn. A Retractations self-reference is corrected. Where the current reader lacks a cited passage or chapter-level locator, the limitation is explicit and Open leads only to surrounding text. Printed citations, reader text, audio, timing data, music, and the audiobook library are unchanged.

  15. Version 2.49.1

Book counts in the audiobook library

Each audiobook shows its literary extent directly beneath its title in grid and list views, and in the work details. Counts distinguish books from audio chapters, with accurate hymn, letter, and catechesis labels. Playback, saved progress, recordings, text, artwork, and music are unchanged.

  16. Version 2.49.0

    A dedicated audiobook library

Browse all 29 available Listen audiobooks without opening the reader text. Augustine is selected by default, with an Ambrose collection, chronological or title sorting, a two-across cover grid, and a list view. Continue, restart, chapter navigation, and playback controls share the existing Listen recordings and locally saved per-work progress. Matching whole-work artwork follows the established cream-paper audiobook series. Light, Dark, and Retro are supported; texts, audio, timing data, and music are unchanged.

  17. Version 2.48.17

Choose how to start an album

Music albums now have separate Continue album and Start from beginning controls. Continue keeps the current song and position when available; Start from beginning plays the first available song from zero. Both use album order. The compact action row adapts to narrow screens in Light, Dark, and Retro. Existing recordings, lyric timings, readers, and audiobooks are unchanged.

  18. Version 2.48.16

    Clarify the Happy Life witnesses

Shortens the Maurist-collated Avranches MS 92 entry and separately identifies the earlier ninth-century Milan, Biblioteca Ambrosiana, MS M 67 sup. as comparison evidence—not a documented Maurist source or Augustine’s autograph. Both Latin and English readers inherit the distinction; texts, audio, music, and other provenance are unchanged.

  19. Version 2.48.15

    Trace the Happy Life manuscript

Links the twelfth-century Mont-Saint-Michel manuscript used by the Maurist editors for On the Happy Life, with its catalogue and facsimile, in both Latin and English provenance. The Against the Academics manuscript links now include the critical-edition evidence for Maurist collation. Reader texts, audio, music, and other editions are unchanged.

  20. Version 2.48.14

    Two Ambrose audiobooks

Adds complete, synchronized audiobooks for On the Death of His Brother Satyrus (two books) and On the Holy Spirit (three books), narrated in the approved Ambrose Voice 04. Existing Study and music editions are retained.

  22. Version 2.48.12

    On Virginity audiobook

Adds the complete On Virginity in the approved Ambrose digital voice, with synchronized text, saved progress, and the three Listen start choices. On the Sacraments audiobook

Adds the complete six-book On the Sacraments in the approved Ambrose digital voice, with synchronized text, saved progress, and the three Listen start choices. Source attribution remains disclosed; editorial headings and reference locators are not narrated. No existing texts, music, audiobooks, or retained outgoing objects changed.

  24. Version 2.48.10

    Choose where to begin listening

Listen now offers Start from beginning, Continue where you left off when unfinished progress is saved on this browser, and Begin from here for the passage currently in view. Passage links continue to open their owning work. No texts, audio, timing, music, or retained outgoing objects changed.

On the Formation of a Virgin audiobook

Adds Augustine's complete On the Formation of a Virgin in the Aiden digital voice, with synchronized text, saved progress, and existing playback controls. 27. Version 2.48.7

    Letter 1 to Hermogenianus audiobook

Adds Augustine's complete Letter 1 to Hermogenianus in the Aiden digital voice, with synchronized text, saved progress, and existing playback controls. 28. Version 2.48.6

    Letter 4 to Nebridius audiobook

Adds Augustine's complete Letter 4 to Nebridius in the Aiden digital voice, with synchronized text, saved progress, and existing playback controls. The title, author credit, salutation, and complete letter are narrated. No existing texts, music, audiobooks, or retained outgoing objects changed.

  29. Version 2.48.5

    Letter 2 to Zenobius audiobook

Adds Augustine's complete Letter 2 to Zenobius in the Aiden digital voice, with synchronized text, saved progress, and existing playback controls. The title, author credit, salutation, and complete letter are narrated. No existing texts, music, audiobooks, or retained outgoing objects changed.

  30. Version 2.48.4

    On the Mysteries audiobook

Adds the complete On the Mysteries audiobook in the approved Ambrose digital voice, with nine chapters, synchronized text, saved progress, and existing playback controls. Authorial prose and Scripture quotations are narrated; editorial reference locators and chapter synopses remain silent. One confirmed repeated word was corrected and freshly verified. No existing texts, music, audiobooks, or retained outgoing objects changed.

  31. Version 2.48.3

    Explanation of the Creed audiobook

Adds the complete selected PL 17 witness of Explanation of the Creed to Those About to Be Initiated in the approved Ambrose digital voice, with synchronized text, saved progress, and existing playback controls. Uncertain authorship and the witness’s shorter ending remain explicit. Substantive restored Creed words are spoken; editorial stage directions and metadata are silent. No existing texts, music, audiobooks, or retained outgoing objects changed.

  32. Version 2.48.2

    Complete spoken Hymns audiobook

Adds the complete twelve-hymn Ambrosian collection in the approved Ambrose digital voice, with synchronized verse highlighting, saved progress, and existing playback controls. These are spoken hymns, not sung performances. Traditional attribution remains visible; editorial labels and source locators are silent. No existing texts, music, audiobooks, or retained outgoing objects changed.

  33. Version 2.48.1

    Complete Hexaemeron audiobook

Adds the complete 76-chapter digital-voice audiobook of Saint Ambrose’s The Six Days of Creation (Hexaemeron), with synchronized text, seeking, Media Session controls, saved local listening progress, and the existing screen-off transition assistance. The production begins directly with Ambrose’s text; the narrowly scoped no-lead compatibility applies only to this audiobook. Existing texts, music, other audiobooks, facsimiles, dictionary data, and all 221 retained outgoing objects are unchanged.

  34. Version 2.48.0

    Read ten complete classical companions

Adds ten complete works useful for studying Augustine through his Roman period as twenty reciprocal source-language and English readers: Vergil’s Georgics; Terence’s Andria; Horace’s Odes, Epodes, and Epistles; Homer’s Odyssey; Catullus’s Carmina; Cicero’s For King Deiotarus and On Invention; and Terentianus Maurus’s On Letters, Syllables, and Meters. Nine English readers preserve named public-domain historical translations; Terentianus receives a complete line-matched AVSV working translation. Pinned source packages, native structures, edition-specific alignment limits, dates, rights, and cautious Augustine-reception claims remain explicit. Twenty-five former external placeholders now open 44 audited local passages, including corrected Andria and Horace locators. Complete-edition copying expands from 82 to 99 bounded editions; the Odyssey pair and the 60,121-word Yonge On Invention remain above the safety limits. Study now contains 129 records in 62 reciprocal pairs, three Bible editions, one partial Maurist reader, and the Latin dictionary. Existing audio, timing, music, lyrics, facsimiles, dictionary data, and retained outgoing objects are unchanged.

  35. Version 2.47.25

Copy a passage with its citation and link

Upgrades the selected-passage action to Copy with citation & link. Its plain-text payload now keeps the quotation and complete citation, then adds one canonical Augustinus Vox Study link to the first selected source location; rich-text paste includes the same destination as a clickable link. The link supports ordinary works, Scripture verses, and the page-based Müller Hortensius witnesses, while unsupported targets fail closed to citation-only copy. Plain Copy, native browser copy, texts, audiobooks, timing, music, facsimiles, dictionary data, and retained outgoing objects are unchanged.

  36. Version 2.47.24

    Three complete Augustine audiobooks

Adds complete Aiden-narrated editions of On Genesis Against the Manichaeans (54 chapters), On True Religion (55 chapters), and the Handbook on Faith, Hope, and Charity (122 chapters), with chapter audio, synchronized text, seeking, Media Session controls, and saved local listening progress. Existing texts, music, other audiobooks, facsimiles, dictionary data, and all retained outgoing objects are unchanged.

  37. Version 2.47.23

Keep dialogue labels with their sentences

Repairs tap-to-select in dialogue readers so full speaker names such as REASON. and AUGUSTINE. remain attached to the utterance they introduce, including after Listen has prepared the read-along text. Extending a selected passage past either end now also preserves the sentences already highlighted instead of replacing the opposite side of the range. Source text, citations, audiobook audio and timing, music, facsimiles, dictionary data, and retained outgoing objects are unchanged.

  38. Version 2.47.22

    Keep Music fullscreen reliable

Repairs a pre-existing Music fullscreen launch exception found during the public Retro-deck verification pass. Fullscreen now enters and exits through the same guarded Study-root binding used by the rest of the music runtime, including the existing conflict check while Study fullscreen is active. The Retro cassette deck, Light and Dark player presentation, audio, playback state, Media Session controls, album artwork, music manifest, texts, citations, audiobooks, timings, facsimiles, dictionary data, and retained outgoing objects are otherwise unchanged.

  39. Version 2.47.21

Play music through a glowing Retro cassette deck

Transforms the persistent now-playing surface in Retro Mode into a responsive 1980s cassette deck with a physical tape window, counter-rotating reels, loading and playback lamps, and a progress trace driven by the real track position. The deck follows the audio lifecycle rather than the play-button appearance: its reels and lighting react to loading, playing, pausing, ending, and errors, stop when the Music drawer is closed, and respect reduced-motion and increased-contrast preferences. Light and Dark retain their existing player presentation. Audio, track order, saved playback, Media Session controls, album artwork, the music manifest, texts, citations, audiobooks, timings, facsimiles, dictionary data, and retained outgoing objects are unchanged.

  40. Version 2.47.20

Copy a complete edition from Work Info

Adds Copy complete edition to Work Info for 82 complete, reasonably sized editions. The prepared plain-text copy retains the work’s readable hierarchy, visible section numbers, poetry lineation, author and edition context, a canonical deep link, and compact source-and-rights credits while leaving out full provenance, facsimiles, source notes, and editorial apparatus. A 50,000-word and 500,000-byte safety ceiling keeps oversized works out of the control; Bibles, the lexicon, partial witnesses, page OCR, and status records remain intentionally excluded. Corpus files, citations, audio, timing, music, facsimiles, dictionary data, and retained outgoing objects are unchanged.

  41. Version 2.47.19

Listen to On Free Choice of the Will

Adds the complete 61-chapter multivoice audiobook of Augustine’s On Free Choice of the Will, with Aiden as Augustine and the approved Evodius voice. Its 48,234 spoken words run 5:00:56 with chapter-level audio, word-synchronized highlighting, seeking, Media Session controls, saved listening progress, and the existing screen-off transition assistance. The source text, citations, music, other audiobooks, facsimiles, dictionary data, and all retained outgoing objects are unchanged.

  42. Version 2.47.18

Show each work’s author and date in the Library

Adds a dedicated author-and-date line beneath every Library entry’s native or Latin title and edition label, followed by the existing literal book count and Audiobook indicator. All 55 English entries reuse the curated author and original-work date already shown in Work Info, including honest uncertain, traditional, delivered, performed, and multi-period records; longer explanations remain intact in Work Info while compact dates keep the mobile catalog readable. Search, language filters, author grouping, texts, citations, audio, timing, music, facsimiles, dictionary data, and retained outgoing objects are unchanged.

  43. Version 2.47.17

    Resume audiobooks on this device

Saves each audiobook’s whole-book position in this browser every five seconds and when playback pauses, seeks, changes chapters, closes, or moves into the background. Returning to Listen offers the exact book/chapter/time and a choice between Resume and Start from beginning; a naturally finished audiobook instead offers Play again. Progress is local to this browser and device, requires no account or server storage, and disappears if site data is cleared. Texts, citations, audio, timing, music, facsimiles, dictionary data, and retained outgoing objects are unchanged.

  44. Version 2.47.16

    Organize the Library by author

Reorganizes the Library into Sacred Scripture, Saint Augustine, Saint Ambrose, and Other Works so authorship is visible before a reader is opened. Each edition keeps its primary title, native or Latin title and edition type, literal book count when one is stated, and Audiobook indicator when narration is published; chapter, section, language, and other structural details remain available in Work Info. Search and language filters are unchanged, and no text, citation, audio, timing, music, facsimile, dictionary, or retained outgoing object changes.

  45. Version 2.47.15

Listen to On the Greatness of the Soul

Adds the complete 36-chapter multivoice audiobook of Augustine’s On the Greatness of the Soul, with Aiden as Augustine and the approved lighter analytical tenor as Evodius. Its 25,231 spoken words run 2:39:09 with chapter-level audio, word-synchronized highlighting, seeking, Media Session controls, and the existing screen-off transition assistance. The source text, citations, music, other audiobooks, facsimiles, dictionary data, and all retained outgoing objects are unchanged.

  46. Version 2.47.14

Show audiobook availability and correct inherited references

Library entries now show a visible, accessible Audiobook indicator whenever that reader already has published narration. The focused Against the Academics reference audit now opens Cicero’s loaded Divinatio in Q. Caecilium §5, displays the corrected locators Aeneid 8.441, Retractations 1.1.2, and Sallust’s Catiline 20, expands the Eclogue preview to 3.104–107 for context, and turns the two opening “See…” notes into local Study controls. The inherited Maurist/Migne citation strings remain preserved as source evidence; corpus text, audio, timing, music, facsimiles, and retained outgoing objects are unchanged.

  47. Version 2.47.13

    Warm a commute-sized audio queue

While music or an audiobook is playing, Study now warms consecutive upcoming tracks or chapters into the ordinary browser cache, one file at a time, until at least 35 minutes of successors are ready instead of warming only one. Successful automatic transitions keep the remaining warmed queue and add only a new tail. Pausing, seeking, selecting another item, or changing playback mode cancels pending downloads, and natural album and book endings are respected. This is an experimental browser-resilience measure rather than a guarantee that every phone will permit indefinite background playback. Music files, audiobook files, timing, texts, citations, facsimiles, artwork, dictionary data, and retained outgoing objects are unchanged; exact track durations were added to the music manifest to size the queue.

  48. Version 2.47.12

Keep your place while exploring the audiobook text

Intentional scrolling while an audiobook plays now pauses only automatic synchronized text following: narration and word highlighting continue without pulling the reader back. A floating Return to synced text control restores the current highlight to the reading comfort band and resumes following. The choice persists through pauses, seeks, sentence jumps, reader remounts, and chapter transitions, then resets for a new, stopped, closed, replayed, or completed narration session. Audio, timing, text, citations, music, facsimiles, dictionary data, and retained outgoing objects are unchanged.

  49. Version 2.47.11

    Choose the right Study view

Adds a compact View menu with three explicit display modes: Focused fills the browser window by default, Full screen hides the browser controls when the browser permits it, and Site page restores the Augustinus Vox menu and footer. Leaving native full screen returns to Focused view, and unsupported browsers fall back safely. The Music album browser now lists all releases newest first without changing the canonical catalog, saved playback, album track order, or total-shuffle behavior. Text, edition data, facsimile images, citations, audio, timing, artwork, dictionary data, and retained outgoing objects are unchanged.

  50. Version 2.47.10

Give source scans room on phones

Compacts the phone-sized Source Compare header and controls into a short title bar and one primary row for the leaf selector, leaf arrows, and a clear Tools disclosure. Zoom out, zoom percentage, zoom in, Actual, Fit width, and Pop out remain fully available when Tools is opened, but no longer consume most of the viewport by default. Scan-local pinch zoom and one-finger panning are unchanged. Browser page zoom remains enabled everywhere outside the scan. The desktop 50/50 layout and separate scan window are also unchanged. Text, edition data, facsimile images, citations, audio, timing, music, dictionary data, and retained outgoing objects are unchanged.

  51. Version 2.47.9

Pinch source scans naturally on phones

Adds scan-local two-finger pinch-to-zoom and one-finger panning to Source Compare on touch devices, including its pop-out viewer. Pinching continuously preserves the exact place beneath the fingers from 100–800%, while fit-width leaves can still be moved vertically with one finger. The existing zoom buttons, keyboard commands, actual-pixel view, fit-width view, leaf navigation, notes, and archival links remain available. Browser page zoom remains enabled everywhere outside the scan. Text, edition data, facsimile images, citations, audio, timing, music, and retained outgoing objects are unchanged.

  52. Version 2.47.8

Compare a transcription directly with its source scan

Adds Source Compare to any reader that includes local source-leaf scans. In the partial Maurist Contra Academicos edition, Compare scan now opens each transcribed leaf beside its controlling image, with leaf navigation, 100–800% zoom, actual-pixel and fit-width views, drag or scroll inspection, and a direct archival link. Pop out scan asks the browser for a separate half-screen viewer so the main reader can remain beside it; narrow phones instead stack the transcription and scan. The feature is driven by reusable facsimile metadata for future scanned editions. Text, edition data, facsimile images, citations, audio, timing, and music are unchanged.

  53. Version 2.47.7

Keep an editorial source note out of On Music

Removes the bracketed Migne-witness reconstruction note that was mistakenly spoken in On Music, Book 2, Chapter 8. The displayed editorial explanation remains available in the reader, while the corrected chapter now moves directly from the disciple’s reply into Augustine’s list of metrical feet. Only that chapter’s audiobook and timing evidence, the dependent audiobook descriptor, and release shell bindings change; every other text, audiobook chapter, music track, facsimile, citation, and corpus asset remains unchanged.

  54. Version 2.47.6

Keep audio moving across background transitions

Makes audiobook chapter changes and music track changes resilient when a phone has turned off its screen. While one item plays, Study warms the exact next file in the ordinary browser cache; at the boundary it makes one normal start plus at most two guarded retries, always for the same chapter or track. A pause, seek, or new selection cancels pending work, and a final failure asks for one tap instead of looping. The screen may still sleep to save power. Audio files, timing, texts, music, artwork, and corpus data are unchanged.

  55. Version 2.47.5

Keep the site header visible when minimizing Study

Completes the new full-browser Study view by returning the site page to its top when Minimize is selected, so the Augustinus Vox header is visible immediately instead of sitting just above the viewport. Full view restores the immersive workspace, and the logo, readers, corpus, audio, timing, music, and all other behavior are unchanged.

  56. Version 2.47.4

Open Study in a full browser view

Opens the public Study workspace across the full available browser viewport on desktop and mobile without requiring a full-screen gesture. The rail control can minimize the workspace back into the site page and restore it, while direct-app browser full screen remains available where supported. The official rounded Augustinus Vox logo now appears above Library and returns the current tab to the site home page. Texts, facsimiles, citations, audio, timing, music, and corpus data are unchanged.

  57. Version 2.47.3

    Let Maurist prose reflow

Allows ordinary prose in the partial 1679 Maurist Contra Academicos reader to use the available reading width instead of reproducing every physical print-line ending. Real prose blocks, printed columns, headings, marginalia, notes, the 208 verified word joins, canonical diplomatic TEI, source data, facsimiles, citations, audio, timing, music, and the rest of the corpus are unchanged.

  58. Version 2.47.2

    Clarify audiobook device display

Replaces internal digital-voice production wording on audiobook lock screens and notification controls with the listener-facing credit “Augustinus Vox Presents: [Title] • Written by Saint Augustine.” Playback, seeking, audio, timing, text, citations, provenance, music, and corpus assets are unchanged.

  59. Version 2.47.1

    Add audiobook device controls

Adds complete browser Media Session support to Study audiobooks, including book and chapter metadata, play and pause, ten-second seeking, direct timeline seeking, stop, and full-book position reporting. Music retains its existing Media Session controls, and whichever player begins playback now cleanly owns the device controls without stale actions from the other player. No audio, timing, text, citation, provenance, music, or corpus asset changed.

  60. Version 2.47.0

    Publish three new Augustine audiobooks

Publishes complete read-along audiobooks for On the Teacher, On the Morals of the Catholic Church, and On the Morals of the Manichaeans across 69 chapters. The first is a multivoice Augustine–Adeodatus dialogue with Aiden as Augustine and the approved Adeodatus voice; the paired Morals works use Aiden narration. Targeted transcription findings were corrected and rechecked before the final chapter audio and word timing were sealed. The underlying Study texts, citations, provenance, music, and all existing audiobooks remain unchanged.

  61. Version 2.46.1

    Clarify inherited editorial matter

Aligns inherited editorial matter with the treatment established in Against the Academics. The Migne introductions to On the Happy Life and On Order, and the Migne notice plus collateral Letter 101 before On Music, now load inside clearly labeled closed disclosures while their useful structural headings and synopses remain visible but non-selectable. In On the Trinity, the technical transcription record moves to its source panel while Augustine's prologue remains ordinary source text. On the Immortality of the Soul remains the synopsis-only negative control; Ambrose and the recent post-Milan imports are unchanged. Existing reading anchors, citations, source text, audiobooks, timing, music, and Bible data are unchanged.

  62. Version 2.46.0

Search the complete Lewis & Short Latin dictionary

Adds all 51,643 entries of Lewis and Short's public-domain 1879 A Latin Dictionary as a searchable scholarly reference. Derived by strict parsing of the complete Perseus source, the Study dataset preserves the displayed definitions, sense hierarchy, citations, Greek, grammar, and print milestones in checksum-bound, on-demand shards. The original 77 MB TEI is never downloaded by the reader, and no existing text, music, or audiobook changed.

  63. Version 2.45.1

    Restore On Music Listen playback

Corrects five read-along block bindings in Book 4, chapter 13 that were shifted by an unspoken editorial note and prevented On Music from starting. No audio, source text, or other audiobook changed.

  64. Version 2.45.0

Hear the complete multivoice On Order and On Music

Publishes the completed multivoice productions of On Order across 31 chapters and On Music across 83 chapters. Aiden remains Augustine, joined by the approved dialogue voices and the locked natural speaker pauses. At the project owner's direction, the completed checksum-bound segment audits are accepted as-is without further audio correction; file identity, chapter completeness, source binding, and read-along structure remain validated. The previous On Order edition remains hosted but unreferenced pending separate archival retirement.

  65. Version 2.44.0

Rejoin printed divisions and open compact Maurist notes

The Maurist Contra Academicos Study reading projection now joins 208 words divided only by printed line or column endings, while the canonical diplomatic TEI and facsimiles continue to preserve those printed divisions. The title * is now a compact clickable note showing exactly Scripti sub finem an. 386. No other Study text or audio changed.

  66. Version 2.43.0

Hear Augustine's circle in the complete Against the Academics

Replaces the complete single-voice edition of Against the Academics with the approved multivoice production across all three books and 42 chapters. Aiden remains Augustine, joined by distinct voices for Alypius, Licentius, Trygetius, and Navigius; natural speaker-change, continuation, and attribution pauses are retained. The 3.17-hour read-along binds all 30,206 spoken words to the unchanged AVSV source and passed complete segment, chapter, packaging, and alignment review with no interpolated word timings. Reading follow now tracks the active word within the text area above the mobile narration dock, keeping the current text visible instead of scrolling it beneath the player. All other audiobooks remain unchanged.

  67. Version 2.42.0

Begin a scan-grounded Maurist edition of Contra Academicos

Adds a separate, in-progress reader for the 1679 Maurist Contra Academicos, beginning with printed columns 249–256. The pilot presents four complete source leaves and eight printed columns, with Augustine's text, headings, marginal summaries, editorial notes, and printer furniture kept in distinct typed layers. It is machine-assisted and checked directly against the scan, but it has not yet received independent human verification and is not a complete edition. The existing complete Migne and AVSV readers—and the complete Against the Academics audiobook—remain unchanged. Study now contains 108 records: 52 reciprocal non-Scripture pairs, three Bible editions, and this one deliberately unpaired historical-edition pilot.

  68. Version 2.41.0

Hear Augustine and Reason in the complete Soliloquies

Replaces the complete single-voice edition of Soliloquies with the approved two-voice production across both books and all 35 chapters. Aiden remains Augustine, while Reason receives a distinct voice; natural speaker-change and continuation pauses are retained. The 2.02-hour read-along preserves sentence seeking and synchronized word highlighting, binds every chapter to the unchanged AVSV source, and passed complete segment, chapter, packaging, and alignment review with no interpolated word timings. All other audiobooks remain unchanged.

  69. Version 2.40.2

Identify the Maurists' Genesis manuscript witness

Corrects the Text provenance for On Genesis Against the Manichaeans in both its Latin and English readers. The chain now distinguishes Migne's PL 34 reprint from the Maurist recension of 1679, records that the Maurists reported collating sixteen codices for this work, and identifies the early ninth-century Paris, BnF, Latin 1924—associated with Verona and preserving the work at fols. 12v–89v—as their codex regius. It is presented as one identified Maurist-collated witness, not Augustine's autograph or a claimed sole or base exemplar. St. Gall, Cod. Sang. 143 remains separately labeled as comparison evidence. No translation, source text, Bible, music, lyrics, or audiobook content changed.

  70. Version 2.40.1

Trace more Study texts to their editions and surviving witnesses

Expands Text provenance with verified upstream stages and links across Augustine, Ambrose, all nine Perseus families, and all three Bible editions. Augustine's early letters now trace through their pinned OpenGreekAndLatin transcription to Goldbacher's CSEL 34.1; On True Religion and the Enchiridion identify the Augustinus.it and Migne editions behind their pinned Wikisource texts; Ambrose's readers link the exact PL volumes and verified Maurist tomes; the Perseus families identify both their immutable digital texts and consulted print editions; and WEB-C, WEB-P, and the Clementine Vulgate receive compact translation or edition lineages. A quiet Witnesses & comparison editions section adds only verified supporting evidence, including selected medieval manuscripts for the Confessions, On Music, On Free Choice of the Will, On True Religion, On Genesis Against the Manichaeans, several Ambrose works, and Lucis largitor, without presenting any witness as a direct exemplar or autograph. Provenance still loads collapsed, and the existing Francis, Plotinus, and Against the Academics bespoke chains remain intact. No translation, source text, Bible, music, lyrics, or audiobook content changed.

  71. Version 2.40.0

Read six complete Augustine works from Rome to early Africa

Adds six complete Augustine works from the bridge between Rome and the return to Africa as twelve reciprocal Latin and AVSV readers: On the Greatness of the Soul, On the Teacher, all three books of On Free Choice of the Will, the distinct but linked On the Morals of the Catholic Church and On the Morals of the Manichaeans, and both books of On Genesis Against the Manichaeans. Together they preserve 220 chapters and 534 numbered sections in each language, including exact Augustine–Evodius and Augustine–Adeodatus dialogue order. Five revision-, byte-, and checksum-pinned Latin Wikisource / Corpus Corporum packages are archived unchanged; the served Latin applies 34 Migne-scan-verified transcription corrections while a ledger preserves 16 difficult Migne readings without silently importing later variants. Provenance traces the working text through the digital transcription, Migne PL 32 or PL 34, and the Maurist 1679 recension without inventing manuscript claims. English Scripture locators use modern Arabic numbers and identify both LXX/Vulgate and modern coordinates when they differ. The chronology explicitly separates the Roman beginning of Free Choice Book 1 from Books 2–3, completed later in Africa after Augustine became a priest. Study now contains 107 records in 52 reciprocal non-Scripture pairs plus three Bible editions; no existing music, lyrics, audiobook, Bible, or corpus asset was regenerated.

  72. Version 2.39.4

    Load Text provenance collapsed

Text provenance now loads collapsed for normal works, the English and Latin readers for Against the Academics, and Bibles, and remains expandable. No provenance content, links, licensing, or text changed.

  73. Version 2.39.3

Trace Against the Academics more deeply and tighten mobile lyrics

Expands the restrained provenance chain for Against the Academics through Migne PL 32 (1841; reissued 1845), the Maurist Benedictine edition of 1679 that Migne directly reproduced, and one grouped stage for the two ninth-century witnesses demonstrably collated by the Maurists, with quiet links to Paris BnF lat. 13369 and Reims MS 382 and no autograph claim. This release also tightens the mobile synced-lyrics header: the redundant mobile label is removed, spacing is reduced, and Resume aligns beneath the one-line song title while Info remains fixed at the right. The header is 61 pixels tall normally and 105 pixels with Resume visible, returning more room to lyrics in Light, Dark, and Retro modes. Desktop layout, title marquee behavior, playback, line timing, and lyric text are unchanged.

  74. Version 2.39.2

Keep complete song titles moving on one steady line

Keeps the synced-lyrics title and the now-playing title on one line beside their Info controls. A complete long title now scrolls horizontally only when it exceeds the available space, while short titles remain still and repeated playback updates do not restart the motion. On mobile, the title and Info control remain together on the first row and Resume remains on its dedicated second row; reduced-motion readers receive a stationary one-line title. Album-row behavior, lyric scrolling, playback, line timing, and lyric text are unchanged.

  75. Version 2.39.1

Read Plotinus's complete First Ennead with clearer mobile lyrics

Adds all nine treatises of Plotinus's First Ennead as reciprocal Ancient Greek and historical English readers. The Greek preserves all 80 chapters of Richard Volkmann's 1883 edition from a commit- and checksum-pinned OpenGreekAndLatin / First1KGreek transcription; the English preserves Stephen MacKenna's 77 native chapters from his public-domain 1917 first edition and its revision-pinned English Wikisource transcription. Linked reading uses an explicit Treatise I.8 crosswalk without silently renumbering MacKenna, citations retain each edition's native chapter numbers, the unnumbered print unit in I.9 receives only an internal Study locator, and Greek punctuation participates correctly in sentence selection. Provenance distinguishes Plotinus's treatises, Porphyry's later Ennead arrangement, Volkmann's edition, each digital transcription, and MacKenna's historical translation; it identifies the work as important Neoplatonic context without claiming that it was the exact unidentified libri Platonicorum read by Augustine. Study now contains 95 records in 46 reciprocal non-Scripture pairs plus three Bible editions. On mobile, the synced-lyrics header now keeps the complete wrapped song title and its Info control together on the first row, and places Resume on a dedicated row beneath them. The controls stay fixed when Resume appears or disappears; desktop layout, lyric scrolling, playback, line timing, and lyric text are unchanged.

  76. Version 2.38.1

Keep synced lyrics steady while you listen and tap

Stabilizes the mobile synced-lyrics view. Persistent song titles in the lyrics header and playback dock now wrap in place beside their Info controls instead of panning and appearing clipped; the selected album-row title retains overflow panning. A lyric tap no longer briefly enters manual-follow mode or restarts title motion, active-line centering scrolls only the dedicated lyric viewport, and Android long-press selection can no longer distort the interactive lyric controls or trigger a synthetic seek. Playback, line timing, and lyric text are unchanged.

  77. Version 2.38.0

Trace every Study text and open every song page

Extends the collapsible, dated Text provenance chain from the Canticle of the Creatures to all 93 Study records: 45 reciprocal source-language and AVSV pairs plus WEB-C, WEBP, and the Clementine Vulgate. Each chain distinguishes the Study edition, A.I.-assisted AVSV translation where present, consulted digital source, identified edition or witness, and original work only where the metadata supports that relationship. All 93 primary source links and 41 secondary records remain attached to their proper stages; uncertain editions, inferred witnesses, comparison sources, lost-work testimonies, traditional hymn collections, and Bible packages retain their necessary qualifications. Licensing stays in the quieter secondary disclosure. This release also adds a canonical song-page Info action beside both the synced-lyrics title and the now-playing title for all 180 tracks, with matching Light, Dark, and Retro styling.

  78. Version 2.37.5

Restore the pre-audit Retro cassette set

Reverts only the 15 full-height cassette-insert replacements introduced by Version 2.37.4, returning those releases to their immediately preceding transparent v2 cassette artwork. Retro Mode, true-alpha cassette cases, the corrected Vol. 2, Light Beyond the Tomb, Truth Cannot Perish, and standalone full-height Milan-to-Ostia cassettes all remain unchanged. The Retractations reader, citations, audiobook, corpus, music, lyrics, and playback behavior are unchanged.

  79. Version 2.37.4

Retractations throughout Study and full-height cassette audit

Renames Augustine’s English work from Reconsiderations to Retractations throughout the reader, library, tabs, cover, citation previews, and complete Aiden audiobook while retaining stable retractationes IDs, paths, anchors, and saved links. The four-hour read-along replaces only its title lead; all 94 later MP3s remain byte-identical, with 95 timing sidecars and the master rebound to the new display title. This release also audits all 19 Retro cassette assets at full resolution and replaces the 15 legacy inserts that retained thin top-and-bottom template filler with authentic full-height catalog artwork. Ten use title-safe portrait crops and five expand only text-free background areas so every logo and title remains complete. The already-clean Vol. 2, Light Beyond, Truth Cannot Perish, and Milan-to-Ostia cassettes remain unchanged; true-alpha cases, Light and Dark square covers, audio, tracks, lyrics, and playback are otherwise unchanged.

  80. Version 2.37.3

    Full-height Milan-to-Ostia cassette art

Removes the remaining black letterbox bands from the From Milan to Ostia: Instrumental Meditations cassette in Retro Mode. The cassette now uses the canonical full-height Suno video first frame inside the existing true-alpha case, preserving the authentic neon Roman road-to-Ostia composition and exact album wording. The Light and Dark square cover, audio, track order, lyrics data, and playback behavior are unchanged.

  81. Version 2.37.2

    Clearer AVSV translation disclosure

Replaces the redundant descriptive line beneath the AVSV edition in the Canticle of the Creatures provenance chain with English Translation (A.I. Assisted). The separate semantic category remains English translation; provenance relationships, links, dates, translation text, source text, manuscript claims, and licensing remain unchanged. Retro Mode also replaces all 19 cassette images with true-alpha artwork so the clear cases sit directly on the theme instead of white rectangles. The Light Beyond the Tomb (Piano Sessions Version) now uses its canonical full-height portrait artwork rather than a square-cover derivative with filler bands; the corrected Ambrosian Catechesis, Vol. 2 and Truth Cannot Perish cassette faces are retained.

  82. Version 2.37.1

    Connected Canticle provenance

Makes the Canticle of the Creatures provenance chain directly explorable. The inherited Medieval Umbrian stage now opens its original-language edition inside Study, and the original-composition stage links to the canonical article about the work. Assisi MS 338 retains its separate manuscript-index-and-scans link, licensing remains in Source details & licensing, and no translation, source text, manuscript claim, or license changes.

  83. Version 2.37.0

    Cassette artwork throughout Retro Mode

Corrects the Canticle of the Creatures provenance model so authorship is no longer visually conflated with its surviving manuscript. The chain now distinguishes the AVSV, the Medieval Umbrian source text, its proofread Italian Wikisource transcription, Assisi MS 338 as the earliest surviving mid-13th-century witness and not an autograph, the original composition of c. 1225–1226 whose autograph is not known to survive, and Saint Francis as the composing author. Licensing remains in the secondary disclosure, and no translation, source body, source link, or license changes. This release also makes every music release use its canonical cassette artwork in Retro Mode across the album grid, album detail view, now-playing and lyrics dock, and device Media Session controls. Switching themes updates artwork without interrupting playback; Light and Dark modes retain the square covers, portrait cassettes are shown without cropping, and a failed cassette request safely falls back to the square album cover.

  84. Version 2.36.7

    Clearer provenance guidance

Replaces the provenance disclosure prompt Follow this text upstream with the plainer Trace where this text came from in every provenance-enabled reader. The source chain, dates, links, licenses, collapse behavior, and source text remain unchanged.

  85. Version 2.36.6

    Refresh-safe public deep links

Completes refresh-safe deep links through the public WordPress Study wrapper. A reload-only tab marker now survives the wrapper replacing its own history state, so scrolling from a linked sentence back to the title and refreshing stays at the title; a genuinely fresh tab or changed link still opens the exact requested passage, even if browser tab state was copied. The direct app, existing host history data, visible shareable URL, invalid-route handling, and ordinary saved positions remain intact.

  86. Version 2.36.5

    Refresh preserves reading position

Introduced one-time deep-link handling and preserved the visible shareable URL so direct-app refreshes could restore the reader's saved position instead of replaying the original anchor. The public WordPress wrapper could still replace its history marker during a full reload; Version 2.36.6 completes that wrapper case.

  87. Version 2.36.4

    Qualified provenance dates

Adds a qualified date line to every stage of the visible Canticle of the Creatures provenance chain. The interface now distinguishes the AVSV Study publication date, the canticle's approximate composition period, all three controlling Italian Wikisource revision dates, the manuscript's copying period, and the date at which its attribution is attested; the responsive rows wrap without horizontal overflow, and the collapsed disclosure remains clean for assistive technology.

  88. Version 2.36.3

    Collapsible text provenance

Makes the visible text-provenance chain an open-by-default disclosure. Readers can collapse the complete upstream path to one compact row and reopen it with a tap or keyboard, while every stage, source link, manuscript link, license, and bibliographic claim remains unchanged.

  89. Version 2.36.2

    Traceable Canticle provenance

Makes the provenance of Canticle of the Creatures immediately traceable in both its AVSV and Medieval Umbrian readers. A visible, reusable source chain now distinguishes the AVSV English translation, the Umbrian source text, the three revision-pinned Italian Wikisource manuscript-page transcriptions that control the import, Assisi MS 338, and the manuscript's attribution to Saint Francis; source and manuscript links sit with the stages they document. Full source notes, the Wikisource transcription license, and the AVSV license remain in a quieter Source details & licensing disclosure. The companion action now correctly says Medieval Umbrian rather than Latin, and no translation or source body text changes.

  90. Version 2.36.1

    One-tap theme cycling

Replaces the Light, Dark, and Retro picker panel with one direct theme button. Each press cycles Light → Dark → Retro → Light, immediately updates the button’s icon and label, and preserves the chosen theme for the next visit. All three visual themes and media playback remain unchanged.

  91. Version 2.36.0

Five source works behind the music

Adds ten reciprocal readers for five complete source works behind six song relationships: Augustine's Letters 2–4 from pinned CSEL 34.1 Latin with new AVSV companions; the anonymous morning hymn Lucis largitor splendide, responsibly labeled Pseudo-Hilary, with its Migne variants and a new AVSV translation; and Francis of Assisi's Cantico di Frate Sole in medieval Umbrian from Assisi MS 338—not a later Latin rendering—with a new AVSV translation. Study now contains 45 source-language/AVSV pairs and 93 records. Poetic lineation is preserved, technical apparatus and the Franciscan manuscript rubric remain in Source notes, twelve CSEL transcription artifacts are corrected against the printed scan while genuine difficult readings remain, both of Letter 3's explicit mentions of Soliloquies open that complete Study work, and no synthetic narration is added.

  92. Version 2.35.5

Voices around Augustine in On the Happy Life

Replaces the single-voice audiobook of On the Happy Life with a complete multivoice production: Aiden remains Augustine, joined by distinct voices for Monica, Licentius, Trygetius, Navigius, and Adeodatus. Natural speaker pauses and word-level read-along highlighting are preserved across all four chapters.

  93. Version 2.35.4

Verse field follows the reading position

The Verse field now shows the current verse at the reader’s established reading line as Scripture scrolls, including after citation and deep-link opening, selector jumps, saved-position restoration, text-size changes, and linked scrolling across WEB-C, WEBP, and the Clementine Vulgate. The field no longer settles on a dash; the dash remains only as its pre-measurement placeholder.

  94. Version 2.35.3

    One clear Scripture locator

Makes the comparison box the sole locator display for ordinary mapped Scripture previews. Redundant Printed as, WEB-C, and passage-locator labels are removed; the verse text now follows the comparison directly, while the WEB-C footer remains to identify the translation. Meaningful printed-witness qualifiers and extra coordinates remain visible, as do the fuller layouts required for multiple passages, unresolved mappings, reviewed corrections, and scope expansions.

  95. Version 2.35.2

    Compact scholarly Scripture navigation

Makes Scripture navigation compact and scholarly across WEB-C, WEBP, and the Clementine Vulgate. Book controls use SBL Handbook-style abbreviations, chapter and verse controls show bare numeric values, and tiny Book, Chapter, and Verse labels sit inside each field in the same theme-aware accent as the Info icon. Full book names and contextual chapter/verse wording remain available to assistive technology; stored book IDs, deep links, parallel-text alignment, bridged verse markers, and native dropdown behavior are unchanged.

  96. Version 2.35.1

    Correct passage-selection endpoint contraction

Fixes sentence, verse, and line-range selection so tapping either selected endpoint removes the unit that was actually tapped. Previously, tapping the original anchor after extending a selection removed the opposite endpoint; forward and reverse selections now contract symmetrically while preserving extension, interior taps, copy controls, citations, and source formatting.

  97. Version 2.35.0

    Retro Studio theme

Adds Retro as a third persistent Study theme alongside Light and Dark, carrying the established Augustinus Vox song-player language—midnight and plum console surfaces, cyan and pink signal lines, orange status accents, subtle perspective grids, and active-playback meters—through the workspace, tabs, drawers, dialogs, narration deck, and Music player while keeping the reading page calm and highly legible. A new accessible three-choice theme menu shows the actual current mode and fixes the old rail control that said Dark in both Light and Dark. Existing preferences migrate without change, both earlier themes remain available, and Retro motion and glow respect reduced-motion and increased-contrast settings.

  98. Version 2.34.4

    Clean editorial numbering throughout Study

Audits every plain-text reader for false numeric and print-locator artifacts. It keeps the year 386 and both chapter 20 references inside the opening Migne note for Against the Academics, removes the redundant 1–13 book sentinels from the Confessions readers, completes the removal of the overlapping Hexaemeron print-page sequence while repairing the page-split word firmament, and omits the final p. 0656 footer from Retractationes / Reconsiderations. Authentic numbered prose remains intact; the checksum-locked archival witnesses, structural anchors, Latin–English synchronization, citation previews, selection, copying, and narration are preserved.

  99. Version 2.34.3

    Clearer Bible numbering in citations

Makes Bible citation comparisons explicit: Psalm differences now identify LXX/Vulgate numbering and Hebrew/WEB-C numbering, while non-Psalm differences use the accurate Vulgate and WEB-C labels. A short note confirms that renumbered references point to the same passage, book-name differences receive their own labels, identical references still show that the two editions agree, and reviewed or expanded locators retain their specialized wording.

  100. Version 2.34.2

    Simpler Saint Augustine credit

Displays Saint Augustine as the sole author line throughout all 13 English Augustine editions and their Info panels, replacing the earlier two-line Aurelius Augustine and familiar-name treatment. Latin editions retain Aurelius Augustinus; Ambrose, Scripture, other authors, archival text witnesses, citations, synchronization, and audiobook bindings remain unchanged.

  101. Version 2.34.1

    Stable bottom copy controls

Keeps the passage-selection copy controls in one predictable dock near the bottom of the Study viewport at every screen width. Extending, retracting, scrolling, or making a new selection no longer moves the controls above or below the selected text on desktop, tablet, or landscape phone layouts. Mobile safe-area spacing, audiobook-dock clearance, selection highlighting, and both copy actions remain unchanged.

  102. Version 2.34.0

Shareable links to exact Study passages

Adds basic, fail-closed deep links that open one exact work and reader section or one local Bible book, chapter, and verse from either the public /study/ page or the embedded app URL. A valid link reuses the requested work’s existing tab when possible and preserves the rest of the saved workspace; malformed, unavailable, mixed, or unrelated parameters leave ordinary workspace restoration unchanged. This first link format intentionally does not encode layouts, multiple tabs, selections, or open citation panels.

  103. Version 2.33.9

    Final detached Migne fragment removed

Removes the final detached Migne/transcription fragment—a standalone c at the same page boundary in both De Mysteriis and On the Mysteries—from the two reading panes while retaining it in both checksum-pinned archival witnesses. The exact-count parser rule fails closed if either witness changes. Unresolved Scripture previews such as 4 Esdras 6:41 now also retain the direct “Printed as” source label instead of producing the redundant phrase “Referenced in Printed as.”

  104. Version 2.33.8

Clean citation display and a fresh cache key

Completes the citation-display cleanup with a fresh public cache key. Three Migne column coordinates embedded in On the Mysteries citation metadata no longer leak into reader labels or preview locations, and two inherited De Consecratione chapter abbreviations remain correctly displayed as c. instead of being mistaken for Roman 100. Exact archival citation evidence and offsets remain unchanged, and deployment validation now rejects either regression across every reader-facing Bible field.

  105. Version 2.33.7

Modern English numbering and complete Ambrose Scripture previews

Audits all 42 English reader entries and displays modern Arabic numbering across structural headings, reader notes, citation labels, and 74 inherited Ambrose editorial markers while leaving the checksum-pinned archival witnesses and raw citation offsets unchanged. The reference panel now includes all 3,460 mapped Ambrose Scripture citations and 33 context-reviewed inherited locator errors, clearly separating the printed witness, Traditional/Vulgate coordinates, and WEB-C coordinates across 881 verse-level mappings, nine whole-chapter renumberings, and 75 book-name differences. The valid citation to 4 Esdras 6:41 is explicitly marked unavailable in WEB-C, the De Tobia note remains a literary cross-reference, and ordinary prose can no longer be altered by heading-number display logic.

  106. Version 2.33.6Editorial summaries aligned across the library

Editorial summaries aligned across the library

Applies the Against the Academics distinction between editorial guidance and authorial prose throughout every audited Ambrose, Augustine, and Paulinus reader. Long inherited chapter and prologue synopses remain visible in subordinate italic type, while concise rubrics join their chapter headings; the exceptional mid-chapter rubric in De Vera Religione remains visible as an editorial synopsis. This material no longer enters passage selection, copying, citations, or narration. The release also prevents De Virginitate continuations from crossing a chapter boundary, keeps authorial anchors and audiobook timing intact, and leaves every archival source witness unchanged.

  107. Version 2.33.5Cleaner Ambrose openings and repaired Reconsiderations anchors

Cleaner Ambrose openings and repaired Reconsiderations anchors

Opens all 24 Ambrose Latin and AVSV readers at the work's real literary beginning instead of displaying archival provenance, retrieval, source-page, and transcription-catalog records as body text. The checksum-locked source files remain byte-for-byte unchanged, their source and translation details remain available in the Info panel, and genuine reader material—including chapter synopses, Psalm notices, hymn attribution summaries, and the opening Creed prose—is preserved. This release also corrects the parsed Retractationes / Reconsiderations topology from 100 to 107 numbered sections and deterministically rebinds the 35 affected citation-preview anchors, retaining all 389 existing previews.

  108. Version 2.33.4Stable Scripture selection

    Stable Scripture selection

Keeps selected passages at exactly the same line breaks and word positions before and after a tap, including at larger reader text sizes. The shared correction covers WEB-C, WEBP, the Clementine Vulgate, and multiline selections in ordinary Study works while preserving inline highlighting, range selection, verse navigation, and Copy / Copy with citation.

  109. Version 2.33.3Cleaner Scripture selection

    Cleaner Scripture selection

Removes the redundant rounded focus box from verse taps in WEB-C, WEBP, and the Clementine Vulgate, so Scripture now uses the same unobtrusive inline selection treatment as the other Study texts. Verse navigation, range highlighting, and Copy / Copy with citation remain unchanged.

  110. Version 2.33.2Cleaner reading texts and accurate lyric jumps

Cleaner reading texts and accurate lyric jumps

Removes legacy Migne pagination and column locators—including standalone numbers such as 1113—from every affected Ambrose Latin and AVSV reading view. The checksum-locked archival witnesses remain unchanged, while authentic book, chapter, and section structure, citations, and exact Latin–English synchronization are preserved. For Android device validation, this release also replaces the coarse variable-bitrate seek map in “Shadow of a Doubt” with a seek-safe 256 kbps constant-bitrate pilot. It reduces measured lyric-line landing error from as much as 1.117 seconds to at most one 24 ms MP3 frame without shifting the canonical vocal cues or changing background playback.

  111. Version 2.33.1Reliable exact lyric-line seeking

    Reliable exact lyric-line seeking

Corrects the three remaining repeated-chorus boundaries in “Shadow of a Doubt,” forces the synced-lyrics catalog to refresh, and waits for real browser pause and seek-completion events before sound resumes. This prevents an Android timing race from replaying buffered words from the preceding line and ensures the earlier “I used to know…” correction reaches cached clients.

  112. Version 2.33.0Complete Reconsiderations audiobook

    Complete Reconsiderations audiobook

Adds the complete Aiden read-along for the prologue and all 94 chapters of Augustine’s Reconsiderations—about four hours across both books—with synchronized word highlighting, sentence-click playback, citation omission, and chapter-aware seeking. Every track is checksum-bound to the AVSV text and independently transcribed and aligned under the existing strict QA gates.

  113. Version 2.32.0Ambrose in Latin and AVSV

    Ambrose in Latin and AVSV

Publishes twelve checksum-locked Ambrose-corpus Migne Latin witnesses with twelve complete A.I.-assisted AVSV working editions. Exact headings, irregular numbering, page and PL markers, citations, Greek runs, attribution and completeness caveats, and linked Latin–English navigation are retained; repeated witness markers and the combined De sacramentis 6–7 boundary now synchronize without changing the printed text.

  114. Version 2.31.4Exact lyric-line seeking pilot

    Exact lyric-line seeking pilot

Rebuilds all 32 line starts for “Shadow of a Doubt” from its isolated vocal, cross-checked by independent ASR, CTC forced alignment, and vocal MIDI. Tapping a lyric now pauses first and resumes only after the browser finishes seeking, so audio begins with the selected line instead of leaking the preceding words.

  115. Version 2.31.3Accurate reference wording

    Accurate reference wording

Labels the source location as “Referenced in” rather than “Cited in,” while retaining the cleaner single-target layout introduced in the preceding release. Printed Scripture wording and distinct multi-source labels remain unchanged.

  116. Version 2.31.2Clearer citation previews

    Clearer citation previews

Shows where a reference occurs with a clear source-location label and removes repeated target headings and duplicate Open controls from single-target previews. Distinct wording such as “ibid.,” printed Scripture references, WEB-C mappings, and multi-source labels remains available when it carries additional meaning.

  117. Version 2.31.1Complete scrolling song titles

    Complete scrolling song titles

Automatically pans a song name only when it is wider than the available space. The selected album row, pinned player, and synced-lyrics header now reveal the complete title; short names remain still, and reduced-motion readers see the full title wrapped without animation.

  118. Version 2.31.0First-word lyric boundary repair

    First-word lyric boundary repair

Repairs 88 proven early line cues across 56 vocal tracks, including “Grief and Gratitude,” “The Trial That Shapes the Soul,” and “The Just Man.” Tapping a line now retains its complete opening attack without replaying words from the preceding line. Future lyric batches must pass a fresh checksum-bound first-word audit with zero unresolved strict boundary bleeds.

  119. Version 2.30.5Precise album tap areas

Keeps each album card at the height of its visible cover and text, so tapping blank grid space no longer opens an album. Covers, titles, metadata, and keyboard activation continue to work normally.

  120. Version 2.30.4Piano Sessions version labels

Adds “(Piano Sessions Version)” to the 18 arrangement-track titles while retaining the distinct canonical names of tracks 1, 11, 18, and 22. The underlying MP3 files and paths are unchanged.

  121. Version 2.30.3Fresh lyrics position for every song

Resets the synchronized-lyrics viewport when a different song starts, so a lyric click or manual scroll in one album cannot leave the next song displayed partway down during its instrumental lead-in.

  122. Version 2.30.2Ordered Play album queue

Makes Play album start or continue the selected release in track order, clearing an older total-shuffle or single-song repeat choice so the second song cannot jump elsewhere unexpectedly.

  123. Version 2.30.1Immortality read-along text binding

Correctly treats the five opening chapter synopses in On the Immortality of the Soul as editorial summaries, preserving their display while binding the complete audiobook to the corresponding source paragraphs.

  124. Version 2.30.0Two complete read-along audiobooks

Adds complete Aiden narration for Soliloquies and On the Immortality of the Soul: 51 chapters and more than three hours of new audio, with synchronized word highlighting, sentence-click playback, citation omission, and chapter-aware seeking.

  125. Version 2.29.0Complete, protected release history

Restores every verified public Study release from the initial launch onward, including brief superseded builds, and adds a deployment check that prevents the in-app history and project release ledger from drifting apart.

  126. Version 2.28.2Virgil correction preserved during Listen

Keeps the corrected Aeneid 1.401 display and preview active during read-along narration while retaining Migne's printed 1.400 locator in the pinned source data.

  127. Version 2.28.1Corrected Virgil citation

Corrects Augustine's quotation of Virgil to Aeneid 1.401 and opens the matching line, while retaining Migne's printed 1.400 locator in the pinned source data.

  128. Version 2.28.0Preview citations and inherited footnotes

Makes 1,469 actionable references across the English translations interactive, including all 458 inherited numbered notes. Scripture previews use exact passages from the local 73-book WEB-C while preserving each printed citation.

  129. Version 2.27.0Tap again to retract a selection

After extending a sentence, verse, or line range, tapping its current endpoint again removes that last unit while preserving the earlier selection.

  130. Version 2.26.0Compact, consistent English citations

Normalizes 39 editorial and classical references across seven English works, corrects one shortened testimony locator, and rebinds all three completed read-along audiobooks without changing their spoken audio.

  131. Version 2.25.0Tap sentences and copy them your way

Adds Bible-app-style sentence and verse selection, range extension, clean copying, and copying with canonical source citations while preserving native selection and narration behavior.

  132. Version 2.24.0Recognize Augustine’s familiar name

Identifies Aurelius Augustine directly beneath the author line as “otherwise known as Saint Augustine” on all English Augustine editions while preserving the original Latin credits.

  133. Version 2.23.0See how Study was made

Adds a linked, mobile-friendly guide to the app’s open web foundation, source and rights model, A.I. assistance, audio production tools, checksum-based verification, and a practical four-step outline for recreating the approach.

  134. Version 2.22.0Study updates, in one place

Adds a dedicated Info control, keeps the running Study version visible beneath it, and opens this release history inside the workspace.

  135. Version 2.21.1Smoother narration

Replaces one spliced sentence in Against the Academics, Book 1, Chapter 1 with a single clean Aiden recording and refreshed word timing.

  136. Version 2.21.0Copy passages with their source

Lets readers select text normally on desktop or mobile, then copy clean source text with its canonical work, location, and edition. Editorial notes and citation controls are left out.

  137. Version 2.20.0Complete On Order audiobook

Adds the complete Aiden read-along for all 31 chapters of On Order, with word highlighting, sentence seeking, citation omission, and chapter pauses.

Allows every document tab to be closed while leaving a useful empty workspace ready for the next text.

  139. Version 2.17.1Restore source-note spacing

Restores a clear reading gap between each edition’s source links and translation notice, including on narrow mobile readers.

  140. Version 2.17.0Dark mode

Adds a saved Dark mode across readers, Study tools, Library, Music, narration, dialogs, and full-screen views.

  141. Version 2.15.0Improved audiobook controls

Rebuilds narration playback with a full-width progress bar and large, centered rewind, play, and forward controls.

  142. Version 2.14.1Reliable narration highlighting

Preserves narrated prose verbatim so structural number formatting cannot corrupt text or highlighting, and keeps Play disabled if a text-and-timing binding fails.

  143. Version 2.14.0Two-row reader toolbar

Separates each reader’s title and source identity from its Contents, Listen, Info, text-size, and pane controls for clearer desktop, mobile, and split-pane use.

  144. Version 2.13.2Plain-language section labels

Replaces the section-sign shorthand in the Reconsiderations citation preview with the clearer label “Section 2.”

  145. Version 2.13.1Clear A.I.-assisted translation notices

Identifies every AVSV work as a new A.I.-assisted translation in both its reader notice and About panel.

  152. Version 2.7.6Simpler line-level lyrics

Replaces word cues and listener calibration with one clear purple current-line highlight and tap-a-line seeking, and retires the calibration page.

  153. Version 2.7.5Calibration-overlay pilot

Briefly replaces ad-hoc lyric nudges with a hash-bound listener calibration overlay for the opening two lines of “Shadow of a Doubt.”

  154. Version 2.7.3Restore narration startup

Aligns the opening Reconsiderations citation boundary with the narration omission so punctuation remains visible without blocking audiobook setup.

  155. Version 2.7.2Listener-guided word timing

Recalibrates four uncertain word starts in “Shadow of a Doubt” and makes lyric seeking use the same revised acoustic boundaries.

  156. Version 2.7.1Exact citation-preview boundary

Makes the Reconsiderations 1.1.2 preview begin at Section 2, include the complete section, and reset its own scroll position whenever reopened.

  157. Version 2.7.0Standard Augustine narration convention

Speaks and highlights the work title, adds an audio-only Saint Augustine credit, pauses at headings, and leaves scholarly citations visible but unspoken.

  158. Version 2.6.0Augustinus Vox Standard Version

Names all 28 in-house Study translations Augustinus Vox Standard Version (AVSV) and distinguishes them from the freer Augustinus Vox Readers Version.

  159. Version 2.5.5Final English Bible ordering

Places the 73-book WEB-C first in English and All views, followed by the 66-book WEBP, while the Latin view continues to begin with the Vulgate.

  160. Version 2.5.4Superseded Bible-order cache build

Briefly publishes the new Bible order, but the embedded page still requests the previous app cache key; 2.5.5 immediately supersedes it for a clean public refresh.

  161. Version 2.5.3Reliable inline citation activation

Binds preview activation directly to the inline citation, including Enter and Space behavior, so embedded-page event routing cannot swallow it.

  162. Version 2.5.2Wrapping citation, dependable controls

Keeps the citation naturally wrapped within its sentence while restoring reliable tap, Enter, and Space activation.

  163. Version 2.5.1A true inline citation link

  164. Version 2.5.0First internal cross-reference preview

  165. Version 2.4.2Research-backed work dates
