# Track 1: The Order of Love

Song page: https://augustinusvox.com/song/the-order-of-love-2/

## Lyrics

[Verse 1]

Every stream runs to the sea,

Every heart longs to be free,

Every star knows where to shine,

Every plan is by design.

[Pre-Chorus]

And every road that I’ve been on

Was leading me to You all along.

[Chorus]

The order of love,

From the heavens above,

To the earth and the heart below.

The order of love,

Is the law we’re dreaming of,

It’s the life we were made to know.

[Verse 2]

Every longing finds its home,

Every wanderer’s not alone,

Every joy and every tear

Has a place in the Kingdom here.

[Pre-Chorus]

And every road that I’ve been on

Was leading me to You all along.

[Chorus]

The order of love,

From the heavens above,

To the earth and the heart below.

The order of love,

Is the law we’re dreaming of,

It’s the life we were made to know.

[Guitar Solo – bright, fast, harmonized leads, 8 bars, ending with triumphant ascending run into final chorus]

[Bridge]

Put the highest first,

Let the rest disperse,

When the heart’s in place

It will see His face.

[Final Chorus]

The order of love,

From the heavens above,

To the earth and the heart below.

The order of love,

Is the law we’re dreaming of,

It’s the life we were made to know.

[Outro – Guitar harmony riff echoes the chorus melody, drums end on a crashing cymbal hit]

## Song meaning

"The Order of Love" gathers Augustine's vision in On Order into the human heart. In On Order, the universe is not merely arranged like machinery; it is ordered toward God, wisdom, beauty, and blessed life. Augustine's final movement is practical and prayerful: live well, seek God, be formed by faith, hope, and love, and ask not for passing things but for what makes the soul good and blessed. This song turns order into love's law. Every stream running to the sea, every heart seeking freedom, and every longing finding its home becomes an image of desire returning to its proper source. The bridge says the heart must put the highest first. That is the emotional center of the track. The world becomes clearer when love is rightly ordered, and the soul finds life by being led back to God.

## Song inspiration

Saint Augustine's On Order, especially its final movement toward good living, prayer, faith, hope, love, and the blessed life found when the soul is ordered toward God.

# Track 2: The Order of Love – Instrumental

Song page: https://augustinusvox.com/song/the-order-of-love-instrumental/

## Lyrics

Instrumental track – no lyrics.

## Song meaning

"The Order of Love – Instrumental" expresses without words the central vision of Augustine's On Order: that many distinct parts can belong to one harmonious whole. Melody, rhythm, harmony, and movement each have their proper place, reflecting Augustine's belief that beauty appears when different elements are rightly related. Without lyrics, the music itself carries the movement of longing toward fulfillment and disorder toward peace. The arrangement invites the listener to experience order rather than merely hear it explained. Its musical progression suggests the soul gradually returning to its proper center in God. The track reflects Augustine's conviction that true happiness is found when love is rightly arranged: God is loved above all, and every lesser good receives its proper place.

## Song inspiration

Saint Augustine's On Order, especially its use of music, harmony, proportion, and beauty to show how distinct parts find meaning within one ordered whole directed toward God.

## Song style

atmospheric synths, rock, slow, dynamic tempo shifts, 80s rock ballad, ballad, epic guitar riffs, male vocals

## Song meaning

"The Order of Love – August Metal Version" presents Augustine's vision in On Order with greater force, weight, and urgency. The heavier arrangement emphasizes that rightly ordering the heart is not passive or effortless. Human desire is often divided, restless, and drawn toward lesser things as though they were ultimate. Augustine calls the soul toward discipline, wisdom, and a life directed toward God. The powerful guitars and intensified rhythm turn that inward struggle into sound. Yet the song's message remains hopeful: every longing has a true destination, and every road can be redirected toward its source. The force of the performance reflects the strength required to put the highest first. Love becomes ordered when God is recognized as the supreme good, allowing every lesser love to find its proper place.

## Song inspiration

Saint Augustine's On Order, especially its call to discipline disordered desire, seek wisdom, and place God above every lesser good so that love may be rightly ordered.

## Song style

80s glam metal, metal, high-pitched male vocals, shredding guitar solos, fast tempo, heavy rock riffs, dual guitar harmonies, anthemic choruses, energetic drums

# Track 4: The Order of Love – August Metal Version – Instrumental

Song page: https://augustinusvox.com/song/the-order-of-love-august-metal-version-instrumental/

## Lyrics

Instrumental track – no lyrics.

## Song meaning

"The Order of Love – August Metal Version – Instrumental" uses intensity, structure, and musical resolution to express Augustine's teaching without words. Its heavier sound represents the conflict of a restless and disordered heart, while its controlled rhythm and recurring themes suggest that even powerful and competing forces can be brought into harmony. In On Order, Augustine argues that individual parts may appear confusing when isolated but become meaningful when perceived within a greater whole. This arrangement embodies that idea: distortion, percussion, melody, and silence each contribute to one purposeful design. The track presents the ordering of love as both struggle and triumph. The soul does not find peace by destroying desire, but by directing its strongest desires toward God, the source in whom every lesser good receives its rightful meaning.

## Song inspiration

Saint Augustine's On Order, especially its teaching that conflict, difference, and apparent disorder can be brought into harmony when every part receives its proper place within the whole.

## Song style

80s glam metal, metal, high-pitched male vocals, shredding guitar solos, fast tempo, heavy rock riffs, dual guitar harmonies, anthemic choruses, energetic drums
