Song Meaning
“Unshaken Will” reflects Augustine’s discussion of the soul as a mover of the body. A craftsman may move his hands, tools, wood, or stone through a sequence of changing actions while maintaining one steady intention: to complete the work. Augustine observes that bodily movement unfolds through time, requiring memory of what has begun, attention to what is happening, and expectation of the goal. Yet the intention directing the movement can remain fixed while everything being moved changes.
