Before he tries to reason his way toward God and the soul, he asks God for health, help, purity, illumination, and the strength to seek rightly. This instrumental track gives that first movement a dramatic shape: it begins with a quieter, more reflective rock atmosphere, then builds into a heavier and more urgent sound, as if the soul is being prepared for something epic. That movement fits the work itself. Augustine is not merely relaxing into contemplation; he is gathering himself for a serious inward battle, a search for God, truth, and the soul.
