Song Meaning
“Twofold Vision” returns to the album’s central desire: God and the soul. The Soliloquies are built around that double aim. Augustine wants to know himself, but not as an isolated self-enclosed project. He wants self-knowledge because the soul is the place where he must turn in order to seek God. He wants to know God, but not as a distant object disconnected from his own healing. This song gathers the dialogue into heart and mind, inwardness and worship, self-knowledge and divine light. The “twofold” vision is not two competing goals. It is one ordered search: to know the soul in relation to God, and to know God as the source, light, and home of the soul. The track is about seeing that every road of longing leads to this doorway: God and the soul in harmony.
