Song Meaning
“Soliloquy (Finale)” closes the album by deliberately returning to the prayerful posture with which Augustine opens the Soliloquies. The literary work itself does not end in a final prayer; it remains unfinished, closing amid continued questions about memory, truth, and immortality. This song therefore serves as an album-level synthesis rather than a reenactment of Augustine’s final pages. Across the record, Augustine has argued, questioned, doubted, wept, corrected himself, and followed Reason through difficult paths. The finale gathers those movements into an original prayer of dependence: asking God to strip away darkness, heal weakness, guide the search, and lead the soul into truth. Its final cry reprises the longing to know God and the soul, the testing of desire, the eyes of the mind, truth that cannot perish, and the hope of immortality. The inner conversation becomes worship again—not because Augustine’s text closes this way, but because the album returns to its beginning and entrusts the whole search to God.

In the second book, however, the immortality of the soul is treated at length, but the matter is not completed.
