[MOVEMENT I – Facing the Dawn: sustained tonal bed, soft interval rise]

[MOVEMENT II – The Triple Profession: three melodic swells separated by breath-space]

[MOVEMENT III – The Turning: harmonic lift into a clearer cadence, quiet suspended final chord]

Song Meaning

"Credo" answers renunciation with belief. In the Milanese baptismal tradition described by Ambrose, the candidate's profession of faith accompanies the movement toward baptism and confesses Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The three musical swells reflect that Trinitarian shape without turning the track into a literal reenactment. Augustine's journey had passed through doubt, competing philosophies, and resistance to Christian teaching. By the time of his baptism, faith was no longer merely an argument observed from a distance; it had become a life he was willing to enter. The track begins gently, as if facing dawn, then grows clearer with each profession. Its emotional movement is from hesitation to trust. "I believe" does not mean every mystery has been mastered. It means the soul entrusts itself to the truth it has come to recognize.

Song Inspiration

Inspired by the Trinitarian profession of faith surrounding baptism in Ambrose's sacramental teaching. Augustine's movement from skepticism toward confessed Christian faith supplies the album's personal and emotional setting.

But unless he has been baptized in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, he cannot receive the forgiveness of sins or drink in the gift of spiritual grace.

Yet he commanded us to be baptized in one name, that is, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Do not marvel that he said one name, where there is one substance, one divinity, one majesty.
