Song Meaning
"Awakening Flame" uses the baptismal candle as an image of awakened faith. The production notes move from a single flame to many lights carried into darkness, turning personal illumination into a shared witness. Augustine remembers being deeply moved by the hymns and songs of the Church in Milan; truth reached him not only through argument, but through beauty, worship, and tears. This track gathers that experience into a golden melodic pulse. The light is received rather than self-generated, yet it must be carried. As the stereo field opens and the harmony rises, one candle seems to become a procession. The emotional movement is from inward awakening to outward vocation. Baptism brings light into the soul, but the flame is meant to accompany the believer back into a world that remains dark.
Song Inspiration
Inspired by baptismal imagery of illumination and by Augustine's account of being moved by the Church's hymns in Milan. The candle procession is an artistic image of faith received and carried into the world.

Those voices flowed into my ears, truth melted into my heart, and from there an affection of devotion boiled up; tears ran, and all was well with me in them.
