Song Meaning
“All Things for the Good” expresses the hopeful side of Augustine’s teaching on providence and order. On Order does not say that evil is good, or that God loves evil as evil. Augustine is careful: God does not delight in what is wrong, but His providence can still govern what is broken and draw it into a larger order. This song gives that idea a pastoral voice. Night, loss, scars, and failure are not denied, but they are not given final authority. The hammer, fire, and road of pain become images of formation. The track echoes the Christian conviction that God can work even through suffering for the healing of the soul. Its comfort is not shallow optimism.
