Song Meaning
“Prelude: Light of Truth” is an instrumental bridge into the album’s central argument about truth. In the Soliloquies, Augustine’s search moves from prayer and self-examination toward the claim that truth itself cannot perish. Before the words of “Truth Cannot Perish” arrive, this track lets that idea appear as atmosphere: darkness, longing, gradual brightness, and finally a widening sense of illumination. Augustine’s image of God as intelligible light stands behind the sound. Truth is not something the soul invents; it is something by which the soul sees. The movement from minor shadow toward major brightness mirrors the mind’s ascent from uncertainty toward confidence.
